Philippine Embassy, Overseas Labor Office launch Job Fair for Filipinos


KUWAIT: The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines and The Philippines Overseas Labor Office in Kuwait, in cooperation with the Asian Cultural Network, will hold a Job Fair for the expatriate Filipino workers in Kuwait on May 1, 2010. The event is being held under the patronage of Ambassador of the Philippines to Kuwait Ricardo Endaya. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hyatt Hotel in Maidan Hawally. The event, organized in celebration of Labor Day, will offer 1,500 jobs for Filipinos in Kuwait and the Philippines.Ambassador Endaya stated, "The job fair intends to provide skilled and unskilled Filipino workers with the opportunity to find employment. It also aims to help those who are currently not employed and for those who prefer to assume different jobs as their job contracts expire."He added, "Filipinos will have the chance to meet company representatives and human resource managers from top hiring companies in Kuwait. The increase in Kuwait's need for foreign workers to fill available job vacancies will provide Filipinos the chance to find companies that offer better incentives and privileges."Through the fair, the Embassy the Philippines hopes to take a huge slice of the projected 50,000 available jobs in 2010 and provide employment to thousands of highly competent Filipinos in Kuwait and in the Philippines. Company representatives will also receive applications and CVs from Filipinos in Kuwait on behalf of their families or friends who seek employment in Kuwait.The fair provides companies in Kuwait the opportunity to meet their needs and decrease shortage of workers of particularly of Filipino nationals. It gives them a chance to interview and meet applicants face to face, receive CVs and application forms from qualified Filipinos workers, gather application forms from Filipino workers who recommend other applicants, eliminate expenses incurred when hiring workers from Philippines, save time consumed when hiring workers and an opportunity to meet and consult Philippines' labor officials on vital issues pertaining local employment and promote their companies to applicants.
